Our Faith is Rooted in Scripture

Beliefs that shape how we live

Welcome to the heart of what we believe as a church ʻohana here in Kona. Our Seventh-day Adventist faith is built on the Bible and centered in Jesus Christ.

These beliefs shape more than how we worship together on Sabbath mornings. They guide how we live out aloha in our homes, workplaces, and community. They call us to walk with God each day, care for one another, and celebrate the hope of Christ’s soon return.

In Hawaiʻi, we cherish the values of aloha and ʻohana. Our beliefs call us to live with love, respect, and service to God and to one another. In doing so, we reflect these timeless island values in the way we live, worship, and serve our community.

Our Core Beliefs

Our faith is grounded in God’s Word and centered on Jesus Christ. These core themes summarize the beliefs that guide our worship, our relationships, and our hope.

Belief 01

God and His Word

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word, a light for our path and foundation for truth. We worship one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — united in love and working together for our salvation.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Psalm 119:105

Belief 02

God’s Creation and Humanity

God created the world in love and beauty. Every person is made in His image, worthy of respect and compassion.

Though we live in a world touched by the struggle between good and evil, we trust that God’s plan will restore creation to harmony.

Belief 03 At the center of our faith

Jesus and Salvation

At the center of our faith is Jesus Christ — His life, death, and resurrection. Through Him we find forgiveness, grace, and new life.

Salvation is God’s gift, received by faith, and it grows as we walk daily with Him.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

Belief 04

The Church and Christian Living

The church is God’s family, a worldwide ʻohana where we worship, learn, and serve together.

We are called to share God’s love, celebrate baptism and the Lord’s Supper, honor the Sabbath, and live with aloha through kindness, stewardship, healthy living, and strong families.

Belief 05

God’s Guidance and Our Future Hope

God continues to guide His people through the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and prophecy. Jesus ministers for us in the heavenly sanctuary and will soon return to bring an end to sin, suffering, and death.

We look forward to a new heaven and a new earth, a home filled with joy, love, and eternal peace.

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

Titus 2:13
